The cities are the geography entity which forms and develops in the history, and they are the higher form of human settlement. Along with the development of the industry and commercial, the economy status and the function of the cities grow day by day in national and in the local national economy. At the same time, more and more, questions of cities construction, cities economy, and cities culture and so on are arousing people's interest. However, it has no alternative but to say that it is regret for the really weak research on the loess plateau region.In the Ming Dynasty, the route stood in great numbers along the Great Wall, and the fort spread all over in Shanxi Province, the Datong area became the north gate to protect the national capital by its important military geography position. The Datongzhen, one of "the nines", in this historical stage, was famous for rich soldier and heavy grain, and it had a reputation "the Datong military power waistcoat world". Datong's military position is very prominent by its complex plateau knoll topography, in addition The Great Wall to take the backing. All the substantial castles have the function of strategy, and these military castles were not developing separately, but constantly connected with the outside world in social and economic area. As a result, there gradually grow out economic phenomenon in the military castles. Especially during the translated period from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the function of strategy of these castles was fade, and they became cities and towns which were the centre of economy and politics with the increasement of the population and development of the buildings. The paper studies this translated process and its reason from the aspects of the installment of the forts in Datong areas, the relationship especially economy relationship between the forts and the area around them, and the historical condition of this translation, and so on. Through this paper, it not only recovers the visage of the hamlet translation of the Ming and Qing Dynasty, but also provides examples for modern economic construction and social development.
