The winner of Nobel Prize in Literature of the year 2001, V. S. Naipaul, along with his works, has been one of the focuses of literary research. In 1960s, western researchers became to understand his works. Since 1980s, researchers have applied Post-colonial theory to his works. In China, researchers began to study his works in 1980s, and in 1986, the first essay on his novel was issued publicly. Naipaul shows unique views on literature, history and identity in India Trilogy. This thesis uses the method of text analysis to re-interpret India Trilogy so as to improve the research theory of Post-colonialism. The first part of the thesis sums up the history views of the author. The Trilogy displays author's worry of India with the feeling of disappointment and helplessness. As a narrator, he notes down historical events. The second part concludes different types of literatures that the author discusses in his works, shows his approval to local writers of India, deny to the colonial governing of the British. His attitudes show his sincere feeling to India. The author adopts idem identity and ipse identity to define himself. It is author's deep love to India that attracts researchers'enthusiasm to India Trilogy.
