V. S. Naipaul is a hot and controversial post-colonial writer, and most of domestic researchers are preferred to use "cultural identity" post-colonial theory to discuss his "India trilogy" which is closely related to seeking the cultural roots, but they neglected the broad history writing themes containing in Naipaul's India images writing. Naipaul's writing of India images is a history process of reshaping India which is gradually from the outside to the inside. This process is formed by constantly shifting the cultural position of examining India. There are major issues hidden behind this shifting, such as the communication of eastern and western culture. Therefore, the focus of this paper is the perspective of historical critical themes in Naipaul's India images writing and the relationship between eastern and western culture hidden in this unique writing.In the introduction, it introduced the research situation home and abroad, the topic of the research, purpose and significance, problems to solved, research methodology, etc. In next three chapters, it made a chapter analysis of"India Trilogy"(An Area of Darkness, India: A Wounded Civilization, and India: A Million Mutinies Now). Firstly, it analyzed how Naipaul shape the Indian history in accordance with his India images writing, and then researched how Naipaul examine India in the process of shaping Indian history. Finally, it made an analysis of Naipaul's choice in cultural position and studied the hidden relationship between eastern and western culture. In chapter 4, by summarizing and comparing, it illustrated the uniqueness of Naipaul's India images writing. From this uniqueness, Naipaul's views of the relationship between eastern and western culture has been displayed. In the conclusion, it reviewed the text, and the relationship between eastern and western culture has been highlighted.
