Research On The Concept And Techniques Of Expression Of Colour In Pop Art

Pop Art is one of the most influencial art movement in the 20th century, and it's also one of the must acclaimed and accepted art genres. But the reason Pop art is defined as the starting genres of post modern art, is besides it's ideological differences from modern art, but also it's colour, as the most direct visual language is an important aspect of Pop art revolution. This is evident in many Pop artists'work. But the author of this essay found that many critical writings on Pop art rarely discuss it's technique and theory of colour behind the work. In this article, the author will analyse examples, summerize concepts, and from three angles to state colour techniques in Pop art and features of it's colour theory.This first chapter talks about the differences of Pop art and previous art genres in terms of concept of colour and technique; the second chapter discusses how photography deeply influences Pop art's concept and techinique of colour; the third chapter from broader historical and social prospectives analyzes the reason of Pop art's colour theory has taken shape. And lastly we will summerize Pop art's colour concept– extensively referencing and addapting existing colour material in everyday life, to express the complex and changing psychological experience of the public brought by consumer society.
