Life and death problem is a philosophy problem, and a thought one as well, when writers express it in the form Of literature, it turns into a literary problem. Life and death puzzle is a motif from the aspect of thought, just like the way people contemplate about world origin, moreover contemplations of the core of literature mostly stem from such thought of origin。Attitude towards life and death shed its influence on the attitude about literature. Ideologies of thought and literature of both Confucianism and Taoism in Pre- Qin era are dominant in that era, they still have deep influence on subsequent dynasties and even the contemporary. Considering all these, the thesis will be composed on this acknowledgement and concept.The thesis comprises two chapters which can be divided into seven sub-chapters, it is going to discuss about the life and death ideologies of those representatives of both Confucianism and Taoism (they are Confucius, Mencius, XunZi, LaoZi, ZhuangZi) and the connections to literature. Chapter one tells life and death ideology of Confucianism and literature, which has four sub-chapters: the first sub-chapter is concerned with Confucius life and death ideology, the second is life and death ideology of Mencius, the third one is of XunZi, the fourth one conclude the general characteristics of Confucianism life and death ideology and its relationship with literature. Chapter two is Taoist life and death ideology and literature which has three sub-chapters: the first is life and death of LaoZi, the second is that of ZhuangZi, the third is illustrating the connection between Taoist life and death ideology and literature.
