Listening ,one of the most frequently used forms of language skills,is playing a significant role in daily communication and education. Research on listening has become the principle which guides the research and teaching on Second Language Acquisition. Therefore, teaching on listening is playing more and more important role in the English teaching of higher education. However, the traditional teaching method on listening in our school,which is monotonous and boring, can not help students to improve their listening competence any more. Due to these disadvantages, it's necessary to reform the tradition teaching method on listening in our school. In this case, based on the theories of interpretation and listening, the writer practically probe a new teaching method which applies training methods of interpretation skills to the teaching of English listening. This research is based on experiment, which will analyze whether the new teaching method could improve students' listening capacity and whether it could be carried out by comparing the test result of two classes-the experimental class and controlled class , as well as the results of questionnaire. By analyzing results of the experiment, the writer finds training methods of interpretation skills can improve students' listening capacity,thus the new teaching method is ,to some degree, effective, although there is room for improvement.
