With the ecosystem that human beings live on being damaged more and more and the environmental crisis going worse and worse, people have come to realize that: to solve the problem of environmental pollution and ecological imbalance, it is not enough to just depend on economic and legal means; it is necessary to resort to the concept of environmental value. Only by adjusting the relationship between humans and nature via moral means can environmental problems be solved radically and thus promote the sustainable develop of economy. It is just in this context that the concept of modern environmental ethics comes out.The environmental injustice resulting from the non-equivalence between rights and duties in environmental protection has become more and more severe, which has induced a worldwide movement for environmental justice. The notion of environmental justice has become a focus of attention and is often cited. The idea was born in the USA in 1980. It derived from both the modern civil rights movements and environmental protection movements. Environmental justice is a term presuming that all people enjoy equal rights of living in a safe, clean and sustainable environment and freedom of being ensured against harm from environmental disruption despite of generations, nationality, nation, race, gender, culture, class, city or country, status or wealth. The purpose of environmental ethics is to effective protect people's equal rights for the environment and reduce the influence of unequal environment caused by inequality of relationship among people, thus safeguard people's worthiness and dignity.Pondering the increasing deterioration the environment, the author holds that: there exist no general environmental problems for all people; there only exist specific environmental problems for different ages, different countries, different regions, different societies and different political, economic and cultural context. The present thesis explores the theory of environmental justice from the USA by analyzing the social background it come from and the process of its development, studying the definition and the essence of it, and introducing the ideological foundation for it, i.e. Liberalism, Utilitarianism and Rawls Theory of Justice. The thesis also interprets the primary principles and contents of environmental justice, evaluates the academic value and practical significance of environmental justice theory, elaborates the implication for the study of environmental ethics, and proposes the practical significance of building an environment-friendly society. The thesis consists of three sessions. The first session analyzes the connotation including the definition and the essence of it, as well as the three traditional theories of justice: Liberalism, Utilitarianism and Rawls Theory of Justice, which constitute the ideological foundation of environmental ethics. It is pointed out in this session that the essence of environmental ethics is social justice. The deficiency of the three traditional justice views in environmental protection is also mentioned. The second session interprets the primary principles and contents of environmental ethics. Environmental ethics insists environmental problems be solved on the basis of equality, enough respect, sufficient benefit and justice. It focuses on how to allocate natural resources fairly and sharing responsibilities for the environment impartially. The principles of environmental justice are hence established and act as guidance for action. Three aspects are talked about here: domestic environmental justice; international environmental justice; intergenerational environmental justice. The third session elaborates the actual implication of environmental ethics. Research into environmental justice should not only stay at the theoretical level, but also face the reality and probe the relationship between human being and nature, reflect from a realistic angel people's deepening cognition on causes and solutions for environmental crisis, push environmental ethics back to actual practice, and provide important reference for building an environment-friendly society with its strong vitality. In this paper, on the increasingly serious environmental problems on the basis of profound self-examination, Consider: in real life does not exist for all environmental issues in general; only different time, different countries, different regions, different people or groups of society in different political, economic and cultural context of specific encounters environmental problems. To complete the implementation of environmental justice is important to recognize that reality, the main differences between different sexual. Through the environmental justice perspective the main benefits will be different as well as their different demands on the environment into the study of environmental justice perspective, the question on the environment at all times maintain a fair and objective, it is even more practical significance.
