A Research On Interrogative Sentences In Xianyujing (贤愚经)

The"Xian Yu Jing"originated from the period of Yuan Wei.It was translated by the monk Huijue and other seven people in Liangzhou and was narrative in the content. Compared with other Buddhist during the same period, it is of great value. However,judging from the current situation, the study for the language of"Xian Yu Jing"is not enough.Especially for its interrogative sentence, there was not thesis making monographic study.Based on this situation,we will put an emphasis on the study of interrogative sentence of"Xian Yu Jing"in this article.The thesis is divided into Preface, the main body and conclusion.The first part is the preface.First of all, we discuss the classification of the interrogative sentence, and finally adopt the classification of ZhangMeilan.The interrogative sentence of "Xian Yu Jing" is divided into specific interrogation,general interrogation,alternative interrogation and positive and negative alternative interrogation.And then, we demonstrated that the " Xian Yu Jing"is of great value and summarize the achievement of"Xian Yu Jing" language study and the current situation for the interrogative sentence of WeiJinNanbei dynasty. Then, we talk about the research method in this thesis.It is focusing on the systematic of the language,quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis,synchronic and diachronic comparison. Finally,we explain the based version of this article and the meaning of symbol.The second part is the main body of this thesis. In this section, we divided the interrogative sentence into four parts: specific interrogation,general interrogation,alternative interrogation and positive and negative alternative interrogation.Chapter II is the specific interrogation.The information focus of the specific interrogation is the interrogation pronouns.First of all, we divide the interrogation pronouns into nine categories:peple inquiry,things inquiry,situation inquiry, method inquiry,reason inquiry,time inquiry,premise inquiry,number inquiry and comparative inquiry. And then we describe the nine categories of interrogation pronouns.Finally, we summarize the interrogation pronouns.The number of some interrogation pronouns is very large or some interrogation pronouns hava special usage.So we summarize the characteristic of them at firt.Then we summarize the characteristic of the interrogation pronouns system.Chapter III is the general interrogation. In this part, we divide the general interrogation into three categories:the common general interrogation,the estimate general interrogation and thetorion interrogation based on the inquiring information and the extent of inquiry.Then we describe the three categories. Finally, we summarize the characteristic of the general interrogation.Chapter IV is the alternative interrogation. We divide the alternative interrogation in" Xian Yu Jing" into two categories:the alternative interrogation of using association word and the alternative interrogation of not using association word . Then we describe the two categories. Finally, we summarize the characteristic of the alternative interrogation.Chapter V is the positive and negative alternative interrogation. Because of the controversial of the classification standard,we describe the positive and negative alternative interrogation at first,and then classify them.The positive and negative alternative interrogations in"Xian Yu Jing"has 12 forms.After analyzing them,we find that all of them have negative words at the end of the sentence except the form of"ke VP". Moreover, the negative words at the end of the sentence haven't grammaticalized.So we divide the positive and negative alternative interrogation into three categories:having the negative word "bu" at the sentence,having the negative word "wei" at the sentence and having the negative word "wu" at the sentence. Finally, we summarize the characteristic of the positive and negative alternative interrogation.The third part is the epilog of the the thesis. In this section,we mentioned there are non-standard language phenomenons in"Xian Yu Jing".So we must think whether the translators use Chinese by mistake at first when we find special language phenomenons. Finally,we mentioned the inadequacies of this thesis.There are lack of impact studies for the original text languages and the effect of the dialect.
