The Studies On The Miao's Toten & Pattern And The Applications On The Modern Costume Design

Miao is an old nation which has formed his own special culture through the long history. As one of the inspirit cultures, miao's dress is very richness and the pattern is very heavy and complicated. So this is very infrequence of all the 56 nations of China. Though the pattern and the color of the dress we can estimate which branch it is. Because of the long living in implosive area, most of the dresses are still hold the original look. But with the developing of the society, the traditional dress was changing. Now many patterns of the dress and the design have lost. So it's necessary to study this "no word epic". Miao's dress and pattern is very richness. It contain the nation religion faith and the hope in the future. Totem adoration is a kind of early religion faith in the original society. The people in the original society believe that every gens must have some relationship with some animals or plants or inanimate objects. And once the gens believe that one has the relationship with his gens. The object will become the symbolize of this gens and thus is the totem of this gens. Mostly people always have all kinds of ceremonies or embroider the pattern in their cloth in order to get the bless . Totem pattern is one of the many patterns in Miao's history. So it's important to study the totem pattern in order to have a good understand of the Miao's dress pattern and the history.This thesis is just based on the studies of the design on Miao dress, including geometric design, animal design, plants design, as well as the other design about myths and legends, etc. So as to understand the deep connotation of Miao culture. Secondly, the Miao dress design provides many cases, for example, how does a race find its beauty in real life, how does its aesthetic sense come into being, and how is this formation reflected and expressed in the material culture of the race; Finally, I expound my own opinions on the application of national technology in modern society, such as the inspiration and significance of Miao dress design for the modern design, especially the costume design. All the above are my academic basement for my reflection on how artistic theories should be applied to artistic creation.I believe the academic studies like this will not only inspire my future design creation, but also attract more and more other people's attention.
