It is honored as an encyclopedia on Chinese ancient science. which has the pivotal status and value in our country and even in the world science technology history. Researching in Tiangongkaiwu has been mostly focused on a little research about it in design history for a long time, it is still primary and not systemic.Here, this paper is only to have a try to review and discuss on the design thought in Tiangongkaiwu. The paper obtains from the historical literature, through the exhaustive reading of text, thus inquired the true connotation of design thought in Tiangongkaiwu. The basic purpose of the artist is to try to explore the basic characteristics of Chinese traditional Art & Design thought and finally we acquire the ancients' proficentence and intelligence of building., to find out their important practical reference significance in contemporary Art & Design.On the design thought of Tiangongkaiwu can be summed up in one sentence: "One goal, two systems, the six major areas." The target" that is designed practical objectives; "two systems" means the design of technical systems and design of images; "six major areas" means of agricultural tools design, dyeing cloth design, Forging metal hammer design, ceramic tiles Tile design, paper design, transport design.This paper consists of 6 chapters. It gives a brief account of the study background, methods and meaning, as well as a summary of the existent research of Tiangongkaiwu and the information of the author Mr. Song-yingxing.In chapter 3, mainly discusses the systemic modes of design theory contains in Tiangongkaiwu This design thought has the vital significance to the contemporary design sustainable development.Chapter 4, mainly discusses "One goal", the practical design goals contains in Tiangongkaiwu. This also is the significance which the author studies is at. This is the design view in Tiangongkaiwu. On the analysis does some research on the relationship between it and the Chinese design.Chapter 5, 6 are the heart of the paper.
