A Study On SU Song And His Poems

SU Song (1020-1101) was a famous statesman and distinguished scientist, and also a poet who had his own characteristic in the middle of Northern Song Dynasty. He was good at poetic creation and had 625 poems in actual existence. In a long time, his reputation in poet was covered up by his achievement in politics and science, and his poetic creation was seldom noticed by human. The status as a scientist and its relationship with his literature creation is particularly remarkable. Through the study and static about his poems, it is observed that his poetry is unique as a scientist and poet.This paper is a case study about an author and his writing; I divided it into four aspects:Firstly, check and narrate SU Song's extraction, life and his association. SU Song was bora in official and ceremonial family; he got favorable education on his childhood which lay the foundation on literature for him. Since he becomes an official, SU Song made friends with MEI Yaocheng, OUYANG Xiu, Qingjiang San KONG, and SONG Mingqiu, they give many influence on the style of SU Song's poems.Secondly, discuss SU Song's poetic theme at three aspects. First, discuss his literature idea and claim of poetic creation. Second, discuss his unique theme orientation, selective analysis his scientific verses and Shi-Liao verses. Third, discuss his verses of others theme.Thirdly, analyses the artistic style, characteristics and genesis of SU Song's poems.The main style and characteristics of his poem is lucial and grceful, magnificent and rich in conterms of tent except prosaic and simple.The poem style of his familiar and his own character gave him a lot of impact.Fourthly, research the document of SU Song's poems. First compile some poems according to the time, then indicate several problem in Collected Works of SU Weigong (published by Zhonghua Shuju).In one word, this paper researches SU Song's poems in the round, focus on the Shi-Liao verses , scientific verses and responsorial verses, analyses the artistic style and success and failure of his creation, hopes to give his poetry an afresh status in the literary history.
