His thought is a connecting link of Wang Xinzai and Luo Jinxi. He criticizes the view Keep natural order , abandon human's desire of Confucianism in Song Dynasty. And he proposes Da Zhong philosophy and Fang Xin Ti Ren, which have very important significance to the development of Tai Zhou school of thoughts in Song and Ming Dynasties. His ideas become logical link in the history evolution of idealism.Fang Xin Ti Ren is the most prominent part in Yan Jun's thoughts, which has a close relation with his self-cultivation skill of seven days' indoor as well as the view about carrying out social practice of rural education. That Abandoning lust is not ti ren, Freeing heart, Following nature are the three gradually phrases of his Ti Ren. It means that lust is born natural and controlling it too forcely will only result in heart-fire. Ti Ren should follow the voice from the very bottom of one's heart to carry a balance between mind and body. Fang Xin means freeing heart, opening one's mind and trusting the natural functions of mind and body. Only in this way can we following nature. We should do everything naturally by combining following heart, following personality and following sentiment together. That is just the highest state of Confucian's not control lust but follow heart.
