Hu Hong is a scholar of Neo-Confucianism in the late of North Song Dynasty and the early of South Song Dynasty. But his philosophy thoughts haven't been emphasized by circle of academic for a long time. His status in the history of philosophy hasn't been commented properly and reasonably. The paper tries to make a clearance for Hu Hong's philosophy thoughts, and reveal the intension and true significance of Hu Hong's philosophy thoughts from the background of his ages, so that we can highlight its effect on the Hu Xiang School, the whole Song Ming Neo-Confucianism and its status in the history of Chinese academic. Thus we can make a new cognition and a proper and reasonable comment on Hu Hong's philosophy thoughts. As a whole, Hu Hong's philosophy should be a part of Song Ming Neo-Confucianism, and the Hu Xiang School established by Hu Hong should be one of the many schools of Song Ming Neo-Confucianism. But compared with other scholars in Neo-Confucianism, Hu Hong's understandings about the dispositions, human nature, justice and human lust and other categories is very special. The paper will give a explanation on the Xing ontology, the theory of human nature, the theory of kongfu of Hu Hong's and a comment about Hu Hong's status and effects in the history of Chinese philosophy .
