Study On The Arrow Culture Of Pre-Qin Period

The arrow culture has an important position in the historical developing process of ancient china, belonged to Chinese people as a part of outstanding traditional culture. It has a long history and rich cultural connotations, relating to the political, etiquette, education, military and many other aspects of ancient china.In the pre-Qin period ,from the kings and nobles to the common people liked archery activity, but because of the various stages of historical development and differences of social characteristics, this ancient activity also present different style of culture, reflected the certain period of society and civilization characteristic style. This article divided into four parts to analyze arrow culture: the hunting culture, the etiquette culture, the education culture, the military culture. In each part, the author summed up the various stages of arrow cultural, and analyzed the reasons for such characteristics and the impact of society.Bow and arrow was invented in the late paleolithic period. The humanity explored this invention gradually in the production practice. In the initial stage of arrow invention(primitive society time), it played a huge role in humanity's hunting activity. In the later stage of primitive society and the XiaShangZhou time, bow and arrow which used as the hunting tool gradually evolved into the use of long-range weapons. In ShangZhou period, the arrow which was given a profound humanistic connotation had been developed into an etiquette system - the ceremony arrow. ShangZhou aristocracy generally respected ceremony arrow. Especially, the large ceremony arrow and the township ceremony arrow held an important status in the aristocrat life at that time. In addition, shooting skill also held an important status in "the six arts", which is the main content in Slave-owning aristocracy education. In the Spring -Autumn Period, the war was frequent and the society entered into big reforming and transformation time. Arrow as a murder weapon in the hundred paces apart played the influential role in the war. Later, on the foundation of arrow, the more powerful weapons -crossbows was invented. Arrow and crossbow became the most destruction long-range weapon in the cold war era.
