The Problem Of Painting In The Vision Of Phenomenology

Maurice Merleau-panty was a famous French phenomenologist.His philosophy was deeply influenced by Husserl and Heidegger,in the methods of phenomenological reduction and the exploration of beings,to explore the original existence through perception.In the eyes of Merleau-panty,painting had just emerges the pre-perception of subject-object unity and Physical and mental unity,and the eyes of painter was our original seeing of things.So, Merleau-panty used such art form of painting,through the discussion of painting style,art history and artists,to refute the dichotomy between the subject and object since the philosophy of Descartes,and reconstruct the unity of existence.The main discussion of Merleau-panty is using painting to talk about philosophy,and in his analysis of art from the angle of philosophy,there is no lack of the insights of paintings.This paper starts from the phenomenological background of Merleau-panty, analyzing how Merleau-panty combined the philosophy with painting,and expressing his philosophical views through painting.The paper also evaluates the views of Merleau-panty forward painting.
