Understanding Of Hushi And His Pragmatism

Hushi is a master of the history of modern academic ,he has broad interests and researches in many field such as politics, philosophy, literature, and so on. His extraordinary life, unusually rich and complex works, is a reflection of the twists and turns of China's social development process in half of the 20th century, and has a great impact in various fields of social and political culture of China and related groups of people. It has attracted people to study his ideas and opinions from all different angles.Hushi had studied in the United States for seven years, during which he studied as a student of John Dewey, and in this period he accepted the theory and methodology of Experimentalism ,which he took as a code of conduct all his life. In 1917, Hushi went back to China and wrote a long article Experimentalism, in which he introduced in detail the basic concept and historical development of philosophy of Pragmatism ,he said clearly: I am a follower of Pragmatism. in the earlier time after the founding of new China, there is a thorough criticism of Hushi and s Pragmatism. After the 3rd Session of the 11th CPC Meeting , human sciences had ushered in the long-awaited spring, and research of human sciences have been moving towards prosperity and science, In this social context, people began to reflect on Hushi and the Pragmatism This article makes a research on the origin of Hushi 's Pragmatism theory, Hushi's understanding and interpretation of pragmatism in modern China. It also tells us how Pragmatism expresses in Hushi's political thought: "Issues and Marxist struggle", a political instrumentalism models of good government, and social reformism, naive democratic concept,and,respectively,this article reveals the perfect and imperfect ways of these thinking based on Pragmatism theory. At the same time, it want to contemplate on the historic fate of Hushi's Pragmatism theory and direction of development in modern China. Finally, it has a brief discuss on its significance on China's modernization. Hushi was a Practice-oriented person ,he devoted himself greatly to political practice. Although he failed and failed ,we could not say that Hushi's political thought was worthless, it only proved that if it did not touch the nature of Chinese problem ,any 'good method' would fail. Today Hu's thinking in political field is valuable, it also has kind of significance to the construction of socialist democratic politics in China.
