A Study On Chinese Education By Singapore Christian Church School

Besides preaching gospel,Singapore Christian church(Inclusive Protestant Church, Catholic Church,Orthodox Church) has been putting great effort on education development.As Chinese Education can effectively improve cultural diathesis of Chinese,and it is the basic demand from Chinese society,Singapore Christian church actively involved in Chinese education and therefore made a very important contribution to the Chinese education development in Singapore.Emphasizing on education,it is the Christian fine tradition.Education was considered as the one of the effective way of preaching gospel by Christian church.There are many missionary teaching modes.such as Bible study group,Preaching class,weekend Sunday school etc. Besides,churches have established Bible colleges,church schools,as the systematical,formal religionary education places.Further more,church also participate in many cultural education activities.Such as,Running newspaper,establishing library,translating books and proving financial support to the poor students.No exception for the Singapore churches,during last hundred year's gospel preaching,they extraordinary emphasis in cultural education and build up a lot of church schools and bible colleges.It great influenced Singapore's history.When Christian Church preached Gospel to chinese in Singapore,they also promoted Chinese culture education.From the point of the church's view,there may not be a direct relationship between Chinese education and Christian preaching.But Chinese education could improve Chinese cultural diathesis which do help Chinese to accept Christian.In the meantime,education is the important public service.Running chinese education could satisfy the basic demand of the Chinese society and draw Christian more nearer to Chinese.Singapore church has made a very important contribution to the development of the Singapore Chinese education for the last hundreds.However,there is very few studies about Singapore church's influence to the Chinese education.I try to use the information obtained to retrospect the history of the Singapore church school,base on the historical thct that Singapore church start to involve to Chinese education since nineteenth century,to study the influence of the church to the development of the Chinese education.
