An Analysis Of Translation Shift As A Strategy To The Translation Of The Lion King

Translation shift is a skill used broadly in translation genres,including film translation.The present study takes the Lion King,a fairly famous English film,for example to analyze the functions of this translation strategy.It is from two perspectives that the functions of the translation shift in the Lion King are analyzed in this paper.They are Micro Level and Macro Level.Micro Level contains Level Shifts,Unit Shifts,Structure Shifts,Class Shifts and System Shifts while Macro Level covers Semantic Shifts,Pragmatic Shifts and Rhetorical Shift. With such analysis made,the paper attempts to demonstrate that translation shift could be taken as a translation strategy arid that it can work well in the film translation.
