This thesis is a study on development of vowels of Chinese within acoustic and physiological frameworks, while focus on acquisition and development of quantal vowels a,i,u of Chinese from a longitude perspective.Firstly, based on some classic studies, this thesis brings forward a longitude view into study of vowels, especially the acquisition of quantal vowels for early children. The methodology of study is from acoustic phonetics. We have nine year groups cooperators as study samples, with four male and four female of each year group, who own Chinese Mandarin as theirs first mother language. The total samples are 72 (N=72). The token of this study is 432 and will be labeled and be processed. Then, we measured the main acoustic data of Chinese quantal vowels from a longitude view. After data analysis, we study on the general development of Chinese quantal vowels, staged development of fundamental frequency (F0), development of formants frequency (F1-F4) and formants pattern, development of vowels space and so on.Finally, this thesis discussed the complex relations between biomechanical constraints and development of speech within the acoustic and physiological frameworks.Generally speaking, this study on acquisition and development of vowels will strengthen views of related study and help to know more deeply of speech of human.
