This paper launches an initial research on the problem of text-selecting of college Chinese textbook from three aspects: the functions and researching significances of text-selecting; the analysis of the current situation and influential factors of text-selecting; the principles and recommendations of selecting and editing texts.The introduction, with an explanation of the significance of this paper, focuses on the functions of text-selecting for college Chinese texts and outlines the previous scholarship. The functions of text-selecting for college Chinese are as follows: develop the ability of using Chinese language, improve humanity cultivation, and stimulate aesthetic sentiments and so on. The significance of this paper is to conclude benefits and drawbacks by way of delving into the development of college Chinese texts, aimed at providing some theoretical thoughts and practicable means for college Chinese texts.Partâ… makes an analysis of the status qua of text-selecting of college Chinese textbooks in our country. Under the guidance of the principle of "possessing thoroughly and analyzing emphatically", this paper analyses the status qua of text-selecting from similarities and discrepancies, elaborates on the drawbacks in the compilation of college Chinese texts, and draws a conclusion that not only has the text-selecting failed to balance the relationship between the ancient and the modern as well as China between the west, and pay heed to the pragmatism, but also has not given prominence to the subjectivity of students and made little changes of compilation. On the basis of the status quo of text-selecting, this paper analyses the prospect of the compilation of selected texts. The functions of college Chinese rests on its reference, humanity and aesthetics.Partâ…¡evaluates the influence of text-selecting for college Chinese texts. Social education, profession, the standard of curriculum and teaching has an influence on text-selecting. Social education affects the standard and functions of text-selecting; professional education affects the quantity, level and main functions of texts; the nature and the aim of curriculum, the harmony of thoughts and aesthetics, combination of the classical and paradigmatic, and the practical demands of teaching are all components of how to select texts.Partâ…¢puts forward the presentation of principles and recommendations of selecting and editing texts of college Chinese textbook. On the basis of analyzing the status quo and influential factors of text-selecting, the paper sums up four principles of the compilation of College Chinese teaching materials: the balance between instrumentalism and humanism, the classical complementary to the contemporary, dialogue between texts and students, and aesthetic education. The end of the paper puts forward suggestions about the deficiencies of text-selecting in current college Chinese textbooks: text-selecting should give full consideration to the diversities of students' majors, levels, locations as well as to the traits of college Chinese education, as a result, the editing of college Chinese textbooks in terms of different majors, levels, locations and categories is proposed. No matter which one among the above, the influence of the other three ways cannot be avoided. When we choose one way as the primary, we'd better take another three ways into account as well. On this condition, we shall try to further the reform of the compilation of selected texts for college Chinese teaching materials to meet students' needs.
