A Study On The Buddhism Organization Called "Common Wish" Which Existed In North China Enemy-occupied Area During The Sino-Japanese War

After starting the comprehensive invasion of China war,Japan did not hesitate to destroy and control the Chinese Buddhism in order to eliminate the Chinese people's national consciousness.Therefore,the Chinese Buddhist community was faced with an unprecedented crisis.They were entrusted with the dual responsibility of guarding the country and defending Buddhism.Under the leadership of the KMT and the CPC,many Buddhists threw themselves into the great flood of the Sino-Japanese War positively. They participated in ambulance,fund-raising,propaganda,military and other activities, reflecting the strong spirit of patriotism.In initial stages of war,the monks in enemy-occupied area suffered the attack and plundering from the Japanese army.When the war had reached a stalemate,a lot of them suffered the religious control from Japanese and Puppet Regime.Japanese and Puppet regime established a Buddhism organization called "common wish" at the end of 1938.They attempted to control the Buddhist community of North China by the organization.Under Japanese and Puppet regime's support,"common wish" become a largest Buddhism organization in North China in the nearly seven years of time. To some extent,it become a tool which Japan use to invade China.In this paper,I have carried out a detailed inspection about "common wish".I think it will be helpful to deepen understanding of Buddhism in enemy-occupied area.In the first part of paper,I have studied establishment process and basic situation of the Buddhism organization "common wish" and its branches in North China.In the second part of paper,I have done the research about its activities that promote Buddhism and enlighten the populace.In the next part of paper,I have carried out the inspection about its social work and communication work.At last,I have initially discussed the relationship among Buddhism,politics and war.I think I can make a relatively objective evaluation of the Buddhism organization "common wish".
