Realistic Inter-state Political Thought Of Spring And Autumn Period

With the decline of the royal power,different kingdoms gradually freed themselves from the control of the Zhou Dynasty and became independent states in the Spring and Autumn Period.They had their own regimes,owned specific territory,and formed independent political,economical and military systems.Meanwhile,the relation between different kingdoms was getting closer.Any kingdom's policy must base on the other's actions.Hence,a uniform political system had formed.In the system,the kingdoms were in a state of anarchy,so they put security and survival in an important position.Idealism dominated the inter-state political thought in the Spring and Autumn Period. Meanwhile,realistic inter-state political thought was also developing.Because in the state of anarchy almost all kingdoms seek hegemony:bullying the weak.Five hegemonic giants in the Spring and Autumn Period all developed themselves by absorbing the small kingdoms.According to the written history,there were one thousand and two hundred kingdoms. But there were only fourteen left in the middle and later periods of the Spring and Autumn period.The crucial reality tells us the kingdoms must seek power in order to survive and develop.Survival dependent on power and development through power proves realistic inter-state political thought had come into being.Trying to describe and make a conclusion of the realistic inter-state political thought, the paper is divided into three parts.The first part the economical and political which brings out the realistic inter-state political thought in the Spring and Autumn Period.The second part analyzed the main realistic inter-state political thought in detail including:geopolitics,military deterrence,alliance and balance of power.It focused on the main context and its use in practice.The third part talked about the characteristics,significance of the realistic inter-state political thought in the Spring and Autumn Period and concluded some ideas.
