The education of emotional intelligence,on which educators focus their attention,has been the teaching emphasis in the 21 century.The thesis studied the several major domestic and foreign theories of emotional intelligence,and the application of the emotional intelligence theories in schools.Reference to both the Emotional Competency Inventory(ECI) made by Boyatzis,Goleman and the emotional intelligence scale of college students made by Zhang Jinfu,Xu Xiaoyan,the thesis connected with the actual living of students,revised the emotional intelligence scale,and implemented a large-scaled test.According to the test results and the interview survey, which was taken from teachers and students in higher vocational colleges,the author analysed the status and the problems in the students' emotional intelligence areas:lack reasonable self-awareness and self-evaluation isn't appropriate;emotional instability and be easy to lose control of impulses;be vulnerable to feelings of frustration and be poor of frustration tolerance;be weak of social communication ability and lack a spirit of cooperation.The test results showed that:the revised emotional intelligence scale has comparatively high reliability and validity;though the students in higher vocational colleges have the defects in emotional intelligence respect,the level of emotional intelligence is above average as a whole;In view of the status and the problems in the students' emotional intelligence areas,the author experimented with the measures to train emotional intelligence of the students.In the range of the first class, establish a new relationship between teachers and students,construct the emotional teaching mode;set up the emotional intelligence education in standardizing curriculums and adopt a scientific teaching evaluation system.In the range of the second class,carry out the humanistic education;carry out the social practice; carry out the quality development training;carry out the professional psychological counseling in colleges. The experiment results showed that experimental classes made more progress than control ones in social awareness,self-management,social awareness and social skills.The experiment has proved that higher vocational colleges implement the measures to train students contributes to improve the students' emotional intelligence.
