With the increasingly exchanges in economics and external trades among different nations, cultural exchanges witness much more frequent changes and rapid development. In the field of cultural exchanges, poetry serves a unique and indispensable role in spreading a nation's culture. In order to accelerate cultural exchanges and communications between China and other nations, poetry translation---especially the translation of classical Chinese poems is of great significance, which can be proved in top government leaders' quotations of poetic lines. As to poetry translation,it is a generally-accepted truth in the translation circle both at home and abroad that poetry is untranslatable.Robert Frost once said:"Poetry is what gets lost in translation".However,so long as there is translation, poetry translation will be inevitable.Various translation theories have profound influences in the ways of poetry translation. In addition to those translation theories, many western literary theories, such as structuralism, deconstruction, etc.,also have greatly changed the way of poetry translation.Song Lyrics is a rarity in the classical literature of China, which has been a research focus by scholars home and abroad for a long time.In the present study, the author tries to answer how to interpret a lyric text by adopting a new literary theory. In the detailed research procedures, the author, first of all, conducts the text interpreting of the original lyric text of Yu Mei Ren from the perspective of social-cultural contextual relevance fusion under the constraints of theme and theme-inclination(hereinafter refers to as"theme and theme-inclination relevance theory").Then, the author, based on relevance theory, conducts a comparative study on four different translated versions of a same Chinese Song lyric from the perspective of theme and theme-inclination relevance theory. Through conducting a critical and comparative analysis of a typical case, this paper comes to the conclusion that:theme and theme-inclination relevance theory has been proved feasible and effective in classical Chinese poetry interpreting and translation criticism. However, the present thesis is just a tentative study based on relatively limited data, the conclusion of which need to be further explored.
