The Horror Film Of Chinese Mainland In The Multicultural Context

It is quite a paradox that the relationship between horror film and horror.On one hand,the horror film aims at making horror which can bring a different aesthetic pleasure to the audience,so it has been most popular and profitable in the industry of motion picture.But on the other hand,as a kind of minus emotion of human beings,the horror often brings lots of criticism.Owing to the unique cultural and ideological context,it is in a bad way that the development of horror film in Chinese mainland and it once spent a blank period in a long interval.Therefore,the production of horror film in Chinese mainland is in a very convergent situation that has not changed,even though the genre becomes more and more important and the film industry is optimized and updated in nowadays.In fact,the horror movies don't do harm to anything,it can brings the pleasure to the audiences,especially from the commercial perspective,the view of social and cultural value,and so on.However,it is quite necessary that the studies of horror film,and it is relatively ignored in academic circle.Based on the realities of horror film,the thesis chooses the horror films as the topics and the intends to do a systemic studies on the production and development of horror film in Chinese mainland.The interpretation will be done on the concrete text and the integration between the history and theory.The thesis is divided into three parts.The first chapter focuses on the introduction of horror film.It depicts the characteristics of the horror film from the definition,the attractiveness and the value of horror film.The second part describes the development of the Chinese horror film,and divides it into three phrases which is based on the changing context of Chinese history,and there are,The period before 1949,"Shiqinian"(which from 1949 to 1966) and the New Epoch(or Xinshiqi,which from 1979 to 2008).Had been done the historic depiction and analysis of the situation of the Chinese horror films, the third chapter mainly explore the growing space and discusses the strategies of that promote the development of Chinese mainland horror film.
