Music has a wide and close connection with life, and effects on all kinds of development of people profoundly. Especially with the science and economic rapid development today, music education promotes the human development and social progress, and shows the unique function and role. In the background of a new round of cycle courses reform, the music courses of high school focuses on the music aesthetic of students, trains students in the overall quality of the music and pays attention to their personality development at the same time.In this paper, we study the course of the piano how to select materials, teaching methods and teaching patterns in the background of a new courses reform, explore the elective evaluation of piano teaching and standards, and provide a theoretical and actual basis for establishing the teaching standards and evaluation criteria of piano elective courses in high school. We find some problems in the course of the study, and discuss the methods to resolve these problems. We explore better ways to change the current high school music teaching elective status of zero, achieve the goal of high school music teaching, and provide a space of personality development for the students with special interest on the piano and meet the development needs of different students.The research results show that: the creation of piano music elective course in high school is feasible and very necessary. We select different materials and teaching methods according to the different levels of students in the piano elective courses in high school. The teaching modes of the piano elective course are mainly the collective and group-based instruction, additional teaching the lessons for the individual problems of individual students. Evaluation in the teaching evaluation should be used with a wide range, diversity of evaluation methods, and the interactive multi-angle and multi-faceted evaluation of teaching.
