Ceremony is the best behaviour expression to represent the essential character of human beings, which is also a key concept in anthropology. Anthropology research focuses on culture study, historical retroactivity and situation description. It shows the features of funeral ceremony, namely simple, singular and mysterious. However, sociological research highlights funeral ceremony as a practical activity to reveal its social or group association with tradition, margin or culture. Funeral ceremony has come across a long development history. Scholars have regarded research on this topic as a taboo and tried to neglect it, except anthropologists. Because of historic and national differences, funeral traditions are with different geographical characteristics. They are an important part of human culture. Although funeral ceremonies are various in forms, essentially they reveal the same behavior practices and spiritual beliefs, with hidden localization awareness and social background. With the market in rural areas and the modernization process of China's rural economy and society, all ideologies, there have been profound changes, on the one hand, people's real living standards have markedly improved, farmers are catching up and enjoying the rich fruits of modernity, and the other respect, factors of modern embedded also in rural areas has changed, and rooted in the traditional rural society had a full range of impact, this also means that the traditional rural society of transition and change.The author chooses the topic of funeral ceremony, because this traditional ceremony is preserved relatively more integrally in contemporary rural society. This article endeavors to display the conflict and blend between modernity and folk tradition via depicting the funeral ceremony and logic of social life, in order to represent the loss of the awareness of cultural subjectivity of traditional funeral ceremony in mainstream social thought. This article is to reveal this loss, to make the whole society abandon old cultural values, to consider the ceremony and rural community in the standpoint of rural society, so that we can know the funeral ceremony more complete, in order to eventually set up a sound system of protection for traditional cultural heritage, not only in line with the basic requirements of a harmonious society, but also having specific guidance to guide practice.
