With the college enrollment expansion of art education and a large mount of students who study western painting, traditional Chinese painting are facing an unprecedented shock, against the Contemporary Art which has intensity visual impact and new notion. The traditional Chinese painting artists who was born in the 1980s grow up slowly in the realm of art compare with those Contemporary Art artists who was also born in the 1980s.Their works seem to lack understanding of traditional culture and do not know what to do with the impact of the Contemporary Art.And in Shanghai, the traditional Chinese painting artists who were born in the 1980s has a special background, the traditional Chinese painting become weaker in the Shanghai regional culture and non-factional culture. The artists who was born in the 1960s are already the mainstay, the artists who was born in the 1970s are also approved by the society, but it is hard to see a comment relative to the artists who was born in the 1980s.Obviously,the critics, the market and the media all have little attention to them.As one of the people who was born in the 1980s,I am very interested in the development of my peers in Shanghai area, and I want to see the way they think and the way they do.Though packing up the development of the traditional Chinese painting which is hold by the artists who were born in the 1980s, this thesis studies the current situation of the traditional Chinese painting education and the situation of their creation, makes a comparison between the outstanding artist in this generation, finds out their problems and the reason of lacking development, and finally make a prospect of the development of their traditional Chinese painting.Although there are many factors which make their traditional Chinese painting develop slowly, the artists who were born in the 1980s have much more time and more chances, they have a bright future. But this needs care and concern from the society in order to avoid that there is no worthy successors in future to carry the torch.
