Public Signs, as an important element of communication, play an important role in our daily life. Their translated versions in English as a necessary step in our communication with the outside world is of great significance. Researches on this subject can improve the present C-E translation situation of public signs in China. With Concordance software as a tool, I have probed into the nature of public signs, and analyzed their language features with the assistance of Concordance for improving the C-E translation of public signs. I think context, as one of the most important elements, can be used to explain C-E translation of public signs. Culture is another important element for us to consider in this translation. In this thesis, I have listed and analyzed many linguistic errors, socio-cultural errors, ideological errors with these language features drawn from the statistic analysis done by Concordance. I have used what I got from these statistics analysis to evaluate or guide the translation of public signs from Chinese into English.Besides, to correct these errors, I have put forward an approach, based on contexts of the public signs, cultures of different countries, public signs language features and relevance in translation. Many examples in this thesis can folly prove that this approach is useful to guide the C-E translation of public signs.
