The Application Of Inspirational Thinking To EST Translation

EST(English for Science and Technology) is a specific style of English widely used in our scientific fields, therefore the translation of it is of importance naturally. However, there are still problems in there. The study on EST translation is mainly on concrete methods while little attention has been paid to the artistic nature and the thinking activity of translators in EST translation. This thesis tries to study EST translation from the perspective of inspirational thinking.Based on the theories of inspirational thinking and EST translation, this paper analyses the application of inspirational thinking to EST translation activity. The research on the process of inspirational thinking intervening into the process of translation reveals the thinking activity of translator in EST translation.This study reaches the conclusion that inspirational thinking is of importance to EST translation. The using of inspirational thinking can not only ensure the "faithfulness" and "fluency", but also can achieve "elegance". The research on the inspirational thinking helps us get into the internal mechanism of translation activity. We sincerely hope that further study on the inspirational thinking will contribute more to EST translation.
