The vulgarization of Buddhism and Taoism is a very important content of the novels of Ming dynasty.Since unreligious lives of Buddhists and Taoists are the obvious feature of vulgarized Buddhism and Taoism,this thesis analyzes how these behaviors of Buddhists and Taoists in novels implicate the vulgarization of Buddhism and Taoism incorporating with historical reality.Since Buddhism spread into China,it mix with Chinese culture,and was assimilated by Chinese culture.Buddhism experienced refulgence of tang dynasty,and had a tendency towards vulgarization in Song-Yuan dynasty.Vulgarization became the notable character in Buddhism culture of Ming dynasty.As the local religion of China, the vulgarization of Taoism has been there for a long time,and vulgarization also became a notable character of Taoism.The unreligious lives of Buddhists and Taoists are the obvious feature of vulgarized Buddhism and Taoism.Many of Buddhists and Taoists try everything they could to pursue wine,sex,richness and fury in novels of Ming dynasty,they steal, seduce other people,run a business,flatter other people,even kill others to get what they want.The vulgarization of Buddhism and Taoism also can be seen from the writers' comments in their works,which includes "people live in temples are licentious", "people live in temples are greedy","nuns are the reason of adultery" and "Buddhists and Taoists are just dumb people". There are many Buddhists and Taoists who were described as evil people having magic power,those stories are ultimate reflections in people's head of vulgarized Buddhism and Taoism.In those stories,the reason of monks,nuns and Taoists doing evil things also is the desire for sex,richness and fury.The vulgarization of Buddhism and Taoism is in accordance with historical reality. As a part of the social reality,the vulgarization of Buddhism and Taoism is a inseparable scenario of history when traditional society constructure is coming to an end.
