Zhengmin, once studied abroad, had been deeply influenced by western modernism in her early creations. However, when probing into deconstruction more thoroughly, she gradually identified the subtle relation between modern poetry and "TRADITION", thus making numerous in-depth studies into the continuation and development of tradition in modern poetry. And in this way, she has finally realized the necessity of tradition and sought to discover any better vehicles for full-blown new poetry. In this study, the "TRADITION" elements in Zhengmin's later works will be fully interpreted either from "traditional poetry" to "poetic tradition" or from "form" to "spirit". It can be said that her traditional regression does not implicate an entire rebelling against modern poetry. On the contrary, in later works she just advocates that new poetry could and can merit invaluable reference and study from tradition, while it is quite different from the prominent flavor of western modernism in the early stage.Under the poetic background at that time, she combined deconstruction and the progress of Chinese new poetry together from an introspective view, in which the origin of Chinese traditional culture could be clearly observed. Later then, she attempted uncountable practices to prove the fundamental status of tradition in Chinese modern poetry. Therefore, no matter in language, structure and image or in thoughts and aesthetics, her attempts have amply embodied the solid understanding of Chinese traditional culture, and as a consequence led to harmonious combination of tradition and modernism.Being traditional or being modern, it has long of great controversy in Chinese new poetry. Now, Zhengmin's theories and creations have surely brought a fresh perspective into it. Regardless of its reasonability, her creative intention is no doubt worthy of our following footsteps.
