The divorce rate is rising year by year in China for which love affair is one of the main reasons. But in this field research on attitude to love affairs, especially the difference between implicit and explicit attitude, different appraisal criteria on male and female persons involved in love affairs and studies on attitude change are relatively deficient.Love affair is considered to deviate from the social norms in China. The domestic attitude investigation on this topic mainly depends on self-reported scale which often fails to obtain the true attitude of subjects on such problems with social sensitivity. Therefore both implicit and explicit methods are necessary to make measurement more accurate.Ordinary implicit and explicit measurements have much difference in structure which may be one of the factors leading to weak implicit and explicit correlation(IEC). Experimental procedures are used in both implicit and explicit measurements in this study in order to match measurement structure, hoping to reveal the attitude of university students on love affair and if they are more tolerant to men who are involved. In addition, attitude change experiment is carried out to help predict behavior effectively and provide guidance for marriage counseling.Three experiments ccnsist of this paper. The first is on the university students' implicit and explicit attitudes on love affair,in which implicit attitude uses 2(subject gender:male,female)×3(implicit attitude:love affair, family, neutral) mixed design of two factors and explicit attitude uses 2(subject gender:male, female)×2(explicit attitude:love affair, family) mixed design.Experiment 1 shows that the main effect of implicit and explicit attetude is significant (Ps<0.001),which means college students hold more positive attitude to family than that to love affairs. The second is on the different appraisal on men and women involved in love affairs,in which implicit attitude uses 2(subject gender:male,female)×3(implicit attitude:men, women and neutral) mixed design of two factors and explicit attitude uses 2(subject gender: male,female)×2(explicit attitude:men and women involved in love affairs) mixed design. Experiment 2 shows that the main effect of implicit and explicit attitude to men or women involved in love affairs is significant(Ps<0.001),which means college students hold more positive attitude to men than to women involved in love affairs. The interation between implicit attitude and sex is significant(P<0.01),which means male subjects hold more positive attitude to men and women involved in love affairs than female subjects. The third is on attitude change in which implicit attitude uses 3(group:pro-love affair, pro-family,neutral condition)×3(implicit attitude:love affair, family, neutral) mixed design and explicit attitude uses 3(group:pro-love affair,pro-family,neutral condition)×2(explicit attitude:love affair, family) mixed design.Experiment 3 shows that after learning the materials,pro-love affair group hold more positive implcit attitude to love affairs significantly than pro-family group and nutral group(P<0.01).The following main conclusions are reached:(1) The attitude to family of university students is superior to that of love affair.(2) Implicit appraisal on love affair is better than explicit appraisal, showing a certain degree of separation.(3) Social cultural shows more tolerance to men in love affairs, which shows different appraisal criteria.(4) Implict and explicit attitude on men and women in love affairs have the same evaluation direction but there is a certain degree of separation.(5) Implicit and explicit attitude consistency of male subjects is higher than females.(6) Materials with different inclinations have changed implicit attitude of subjects, but not explicit attitude.
