The Analysis On The Nature Of Dialectical Logic As A Subject

Since dialectical logic theory was introduced to China in the 30s of last century, especially after the reform and opening up, China has witnessed significant development in its study. However, the argument on dialectical logic has never ended. And the nature of dialectical logic is the central issue among these debates. Up to now, the quest on its nature is still a controversial problem, which has got various views from the academic community of either logic or philosophy.To begin the study of one subject, we must learn its nature at first. The study of dialectical logic is no exception. In addition, the nature of dialectical logic is not only the basic theoretical question in the study of dialectical logic, but also the core issue in the development of the research. Then what is the nature of dialectical logic? This article based on an explicit summary of the developments in the study of dialectical logic in China, aims to give a sound answer to this question (the answer, of course, has its limitations for the subjective point of view of the author).To sum up, the study of dialectical logic in China has always been based on the principles by Marx, Engels and Lenin as well as in accord with different periods of our national conditions. Through 70 years' development, this discipline has turned to be prosperous and shown the trend of further developing. The discussion about the nature of dialectical logic has also experienced the shaping course of the development of dialectical logic, with the changing perceptions from the general philosophy of dialectical logic, to a special type of dialectical logic, until the science of logic. However, this problem has not been resolved yet. There is no unified answer. Some people think that dialectical logic is philosophy (denying the independence of dialectical logic); some people believe that dialectical logic is rather logic, while some people hold on both views. So what dialectical logic actually is? This article claims that dialectical logic is the science about the dialectical thinking. It is the same an independent discipline as ordinary logic, serving as a tool for other disciplines of logic. We should not confuse dialectical logic with philosophy. The twenty-first century is an era of great development of dialectical logic. With the development of science and human's further practice, dialectical logic will eventually separate from the disciplines of philosophy to be an independent subject. At that time, the framework of dialectical logic will be well shaped and the subject will get rich and accomplished so to play a greater role in the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics in our nation.
