The literary criticism of the Geneva School has its special cultural backgrounds and ideological origins, which including Bergson 's intuitionism,Wilhelm Dilthey's Historical Hermeneutics,Jean Jacques'Romanticism and Psychoanalytic Study and so on,and the most important theory background is Edmund Husserl's Phenomenology, which makes it displays the clear characters of phenomenology literary criticism. Georges Paulet's representative work《Critical Consciousness》is a summative and aggregative book to the Geneva School. Georges Paulet gives explanations to the 17 critics'criticism and some writers'works. He studies from Germaine de Stael to Jean Starobinski, Roland Barthes and so on. The aim of this paper is to anylse Georges Paulet's《Critical Consciousness》in detail., in this way displays the clear characters of phenomenological literary criticism. This paper's first chapter will show the orgins of Geneva School ,and the second chapter will use the key words to describe the basic characters of the Geneva School ,and at last ,the third chapter will reveal their special probe ways to reach the consciousness of subjects respectively, and give the Chinese and religious interpretation of Geneva School's criticism, so as to show out the operating mechanism of critical consciousness.
