An Exploration Of Haining Xiashi Decorative Lighting

The Haining Xia decorative lighting is honored as"the first lamp under heaven". It is authorized in May 20, 2006 by the State Council to be included as the first batch of state-level non-material cultural heritage name list. This article refers to the existing research technique of field investigation concerning folk custom culture and the folk industrial art, compares Xiashi decorative lighting with other local decorative lightings, and induces the essential feature of"skillfully","elegant","vulgar"of Xiashi decorative lighting in aspects of craft, decoration, and lantern festival culture based on the extant lamp piece material, taking the historical origin, the producing process, the decoration characteristic, the folk custom culture and the inheritance protection as the basic clue. And further analyzes the cultural psychology, the spiritual belief connotation hiding behind the folk decorative lighting custom, seeking in-depth way and the basic rule of the folk culture inheritance.This research's value and the significance lie in that it takes the universal also distinctive folk decorative lighting as the important carrier and the active state folk art manifestation of folk custom culture and then helps to recognize its cultural heritage style and cultural characteristics. Furthermore, this study eyes on the active state folk art which still presents in Chinese village. It will help to record, reorganize, and research the history, life, folk custom and representative inheritors as precious non-material cultural heritage. This is certainly very urgent and has long-term significance.
