As China's comprehensive national strength has become increasingly strong, and the international status has been enhanced,so more and more people have a keen interest in her outstanding traditional culture.Since UNESCO announced the first batch of human oral and intangible cultural heritage list in 2001,the world has called for protection of cultural diversity and intangible cultural heritage. In this context,“intangible cultural heritage”has developed from a highly frequent vocabulary into a systematic theory. To protect cultural diversity and highlight the quintessence of national culture has become a must and it is a realistic choice for national culture to spread out internationally. The translation report is based on the excerpted translation of Protecting National Spiritual Homeland—an analysis of intangible cultural heritage of Xiangxi minority, namely traditional architectural cultural heritage and handicraft cultural heritage. The former includes wooden stilt house, wind and rain bridge and sky-towering building, the latter about Miao painting,paper-pasting,chisel,weaving,embroidery,cross-stitch,dyeing,sculpture,earthenware,silver ornament workmanship. With the translation,we hope make great efforts to spread China's minority culture,at the same time to call for more and more people participating in the protection of intangible cultural heritage. This translation report is completed under the guidance of the Skopos Theory, analyzing the translation difficulties in terms of vocabulary and sentence. The Skopos Theory not only emphasizes the accuracy of translation, but also pays attention to the feeling of readers. To ensure that the translated texts be understood by readers of the target language, the translation should be in line with their own expressions. The translation difficulties lie in the impersonal subject sentence and run-on sentences. After a comprehensive analysis of global cultural diversity and local folk culture distinctiveness, the author adopts s series of translation strategies, mainly transliteration, transliteration plus explanation, literal translation with notes, explanation within the texts, and the combination of literal translation and free translation and sum up these translation tactics in an attempt to make some contributions to translations and researches of the same type of texts.
