Research On Li Ding-yi's Novels

The Mandarin-Duck&Butterfly school which originates from the late Ming and early Qing dynasty is very important for the people who make a study of Chinese novels. During the past several hundred years, The researchers'attitude to the Mandarin-Duck&Butterfly school changes a lot. At first, they look on the school as notorious one; however, they consider it indispensable in Chinese literature nowadays. And the change shows that the literature thought and the standard of literature criticism come back the literature itself again. In other words, the researchers evaluate the Mandarin-Duck&Butterfly school objectively in different ways. Unfortunately, however, Li Ding-yi , as a reprehensive writer, is not attached importance to. Besides, the research on him is not enough very much.The purpose of the thesis is to evaluate the content and artistic character of Li Ding-yi's novels from the analysis of writings angle and to study the significance and value of his writings. Now, the thesis is divided into four parts.The introduction explains Li Ding-yi's lifetime and writings, the research achievement on his novels,and also recovers the research emphasis on the thesis,the research significance.The first part introduces the several styles of Li Ding-yi's novels. Among these, the dissertation makes an emphatic analysis of three styles: Sad and Love novels, Moral integrity novels, and Knight-errant and Love novels.The second part analyzes Li Ding-yi's novels, which are creative by absorbing Chinese traditional novel theory and drawing foreign novel technique in artistic style from three aspects: the story plot, the character, and the story pattern.The third part points out the thoughtful significance and literature value of Li Ding-yi's writings. First, obviously, his writings are anti- feudal ones, therefore they obtain social meanings. Moreover, his novels are characteristic of Chinese nation by writing in parallel prose,lots of Chinese poets and the form of Zhanghui Novel style.
