Intercultural Communication Studies have been introduced into China for more than twenty years, the rapid development of research is in full swing, and many encouraging results have been achieved. Because of its wide range of applications, especially in foreign language teaching, a growing number of foreign-language teachers recognize that students'ICC is the main objective of foreign language teaching. Foreign teachers, as a direct and effective form of cultivating IC abilities, not only teach the languages, but also cultivate communicative competence in their teaching, thus have played a very important role. How to make good use of FT resources deserves our in-depth study. This article provides an overview of ICC concepts, contents and related researches, taking the phenomenon of college English majors'language and culture acquisition of the target language in Chinese language environment as the starting point, adopts the diagnosis method to investigate the environment of language, culture and communication created by Foreign English teachers, and makes an analysis on the effect FTs'teaching has on students'IC awareness and behaviors. Tests and questionnaires are used to directly and indirectly investigate various problems of students'acquisition of cultural knowledge and communication competence in FTs'teaching process, such as: language performance, motivation, language attitudes, cultural knowledge and awareness. The questionnaire related to the students'investigation is also used to explore FTs'cultural sensitivity and adaptation in the process of teaching in China as well as the problems they encountered and the ways they solved the problems. The results showed that FTs'language teaching can definitely calibrate the target language culture acquisition and provide a constant contact with sociocultural language environment, therefore will promote the students'intercultural communication competence. Moreover, the process that both FTs and their students encountered and solved problems, enabled them to enhance the understanding to different cultures, and consciously adjust their own behaviors, resulting in some degree of acculturation, so that they might achieve the sharing of two cultures, and the"going beyond"of their ICC could be realized. Through the analysis of the findings, the author points out the strengths and weaknesses of FTs teaching, and gives concrete suggestions on the future use of FT resources in order to obtain faster and better improvement of students'ICC.The paper consists of five chapters except introduction and conclusion.
