Movement imagery is a kind of representation of movement knowledge. It exists temporarily in short-term memory and relates to long-term memory. These researches on memory and mood-dependent memory show that emotion has significance effect on long-term memory. Is movement imagery also affected by emotion? This research tries to explore the relationship between emotion and the core characteristics of visual movement imagery, and to find the effects of emotion on the operation of visual imagery. This research uses Experimental Paradigms of Affective Priming to study on the relationship between the emotion and representation of visual movement imagery.Firstly, the experimental tasks are designed through interviews with high level tai-chi players.Secondly, through interviewing with 17 students majoring in tai-chi from one sports university, then target stimulus are chosen by questionnaire. The subjects are 30 Tai-chi specialized students from one sport university. Finally, three serial experiments are carried out:1.Identifying the conditions of affective priming in visual movement imagery study.2.The effect of emotion on the efficiency of activation of visual external movement imagery.3.The effect of emotion on the representation quality of visual external movement imagery. The results are as follows:1.Conscious affective priming and unconscious affective priming have effects on the process of visual external movement imagery. The response time under conscious and unconscious affective priming is shorter than that under conditions without affective priming, and the accuracy is higher than that under conditions without affective priming. In conclusion, emotion that is conscious to individuals affects visual external movement imagery;Emotion that is unconscious to individuals does not affect visual external movement imagery. 2.Different types of emotions don't have effects on the qualities of representation of visual external movement imagery.3.The interaction between emotion type and affective priming is significant and have effect on the efficiency of activation of visual external movement imagery.Under unconscious affective priming condition (neutral, anxious and activity),response time of imagery operation is shorter and accuracy is lower.Whereas under conscious affective priming condition(activity),the accuracy is higher. In conclusion, positive emotion that is conscious to individuals can facilitate the process of visual external movement imagery;Positive emotion that is unconscious to individuals inhibits the process of visual external movement imagery.
