Introduction of foreign movies acts as an important part in cultural exchanges. Translation of movies (including movies titles) is considered more and more crucial in translation action. A good movie title can not only provide the information about the movie content and genre to the audience but also arouse audiences'imagination and curiosity towards the movie.Which is considered as the best translated movie titles depends on the principles and judging criteria adopted. Since the movie titles are audience-oriented, some translators favor literary translation, some for free translation, some from the perspective of domestication or foreignization while others adhere to the principle of"faithfulness, expressiveness, elegance". Though many measures are adopted in movie title translation, seldom will they explore for one specific instructive method. Skopos Theory, nevertheless, takes translation action within the scope of human activity, thus to define it as an intentional action that translation is cross-cultural activity based on original text and audience oriented. In that cast, to attract as many audiences as possible is the primary principle of movie title translation. Adopting Skopos Theory into movie title translation facilitates the translator in deep insight into the intentional base of movie titles by combining different history, culture and values to deal with movie title translation out of commercial motivation.This paper tends to research on the translation of movie titles under the guidance of four basic elements of Skopostheories which is the core part of Functionalist Translation Theory. It points out that in the process of cultural exchange, the translation of movie titles should give the priority to domestication and make use of foreignization as a complement to present appropriate and impressive movie titles.
