In recent years, constructive learning theory has become more and moreevaluated. The application of Constructivism to English teaching will greatly improvethe teaching effect and develop students'learning ability. Therefore, the researchesand application of Constructivism to English teaching are urgent and essential toimprove the current situation of English teaching. Constructivism holds that theknowledge is not taught only by teachers, but acquired by learners under specificenvironment, that is the civilized social background. The learners can construct theknowledge relying on the help of others and some necessary learning materials.According to Constructivism, learning environment is one of the four key factors thatinfluence the learning process. The teacher would try to set up the constructiveenvironment in which the students are encouraged to engage in an active interactionwith the teacher and other students, learning under virtual situations. Situationalteaching method can make the students understand the new knowledge and completethe reconstruction easier under specific learning environment. Since quality educationis vigorously promoted today, Constructivism has guiding significance in constructingnew educational mode, especially plays a very important role on English teaching invocational schools.This paper first introduces Constructivism, and then explains contents andmethods of situational teaching method according to the application of Constructivismto English teaching. Besides, it points out that in English teaching, the teachers wouldappropriately increase the scenes which are relevant to the learning materials in orderto let the students learn constructively and achieve good teaching effect. According tothe results of questionnaire, tests and class observation, it is found that situationalteaching method has greater significance than traditional teaching methods instimulating students'interest in learning, recognizing their lack of knowledge,promoting coherence of knowledge, improving the teaching effect and so on.Situational teaching method can help cultivate students'team capacity, innovative andpractical ability, and enhance their interests in learning. But it has certain limitations.
