It is the key element for opera creation to shape the image of its main character.Giacomo Puccini is the most successful and influential composers of realism opera at the turning point of 20th century in Italy. His opera works shows ordinary people's life at the bottom of society, especially for the typical female characters.Because of his successfully shaping of the female characters,he is drawing more and more attention of critists,and has become the hot theme for research.Among his works, "Tosca",as the milestones of realism opera,is very popular.At the same time,feminism is also highlight in modern acdemic circle.Nevertheless, there is little study on the femine image of Puccini's Tosca from the perspective of feminism.This article attempts to study it from three perspectives.Partâ… tires to find the similarities between the creation of Tosca and feminism through a sound discription of both.Partâ…¡traces back the origin of the image through an analysis of its social,cultural background and the creator's experience.Partâ…¢conducts an anlysis of the musical image of Tosca from the perspective of feminism,including opera themes on women's unique perspective,women's noble view of love basing on ups and downs of the plot.Through reading the tonality,melody,aria-style and other characteristics of the character,we can see the special function of music in the shaping of the female image- Tosca.
