A Comparative Study On The Works Between Lu Xun And Natsume Soseki

Lu Xun was a peak of the history of Chinese literature in the twentieth century.After his death,he was honored by the title of "National Soul". Natsume Soseki was known as the "National Writer" in Japan.Their works were characterized by the ideological contents,grasped the pulse of the times,and excavated human nature in-depth.They played a "night watchman" role in the process of modernization of their nations.This article starts the demonstration mainly by fours aspects,including narrative art feature from the comparative analysis of characteristics, comparison of the typical characters,the corresponding deconstruction of the specific text,and writer's cultural outlook comparison,and tries to find the same shape and different items for the two writers' article on the usage of creating skills,subject selection,characterization and so on.The article deeply analyzes these two eastern intellectuals on the common personality pursuit and critical consciousness,sense of reflection;their deep concern and profound understanding of the social realities for their respective countries, and carries out a ruthless exposure and strong criticism for national character in their respective countries.The main body of this article is divided into four parts:The first part discusses the commonality and difference of the narrative between Natsume Soseki and Lu Xun.Because of the two different cultural traditions and art personality,their works' narrative structure shows the feature of heterogeneity.The second part expounds the colorful figures of the characters.The author compares the female image and the image of intellectuals from Lu Xun's and Natsume Soseki's works.Although these figures reflect the two writers have a profound humanitarian concern and sympathy for the people of the lower mass,the image of the intellectuals in Natsume Soseki's and Lu Xun's works reveals different value of the intellectuals.The intellectuals in Natsume Soseki's works were in the pursuit of the perfect personality,while Lu Xun's were mostly devoted into torrent of the times.The third part focuses on analyzing the Lu Xun's Weeds and Natsume Soseki's Ten night of dreams,trying to find the homology and heterogeneity of the two masters in literature on the description of the dream.Part four elaborates the similarities and differences of the two masters' outlook on culture.On the treatment to the Western culture,Natsume Soseki reflects more about the attitude of despair,while Lu Xun takes an absorption and criticism attitudes towards the western culture and "the spread of western science and culture to the East",which shows the Chinese characteristics of "assimilationism".
