The Study On Xi Zaochi's Historiography

Xi Zaoehi(?-384),born in Xiangyang,was a renowned scholar of Eastern Jin Dynasty,who was well-known by his learned extensive knowledge.He worked smoothly as an officer in his earlier career life,and had been in office in Jingzhou for ten years.Later,he was relegated as a Xingyang Prefecture because of offending against Huan Wen.In Xingyang,he composed his representative works Han Jin Chun Qiu,which was a famous annals for its unique orthodox history viewpoint that denied the authority of the Wei Dynasty.He spent his last time in life at his hometown and devoted himself to writing and social activities during that period.Xi Zaochi lived in a turbulent time,when the ethnic conflicts and the class contradictions were very incisive.So his ideology inevitably had been gotten the mark of that epoch. Therefore,In order to understand Xi Zaochi and his historiography comprehensively,we must consider him combine with this big background.This article will try to research Xi Zaochi's historiography in the way that put him to his epoch background to obtain a comprehensive and profound understanding.The paper is divided into four parts.The first chapter will summary and comb all Xi Zaochi's life in three stages,including the state capital staff,historian,and the social activist, and then introduce briefly Xi Zaochi's writings situation.The second chapter will elaborate the intention and motivation of writing Han Jin Chun Qiu according to the epoch background of Xi Zaochi experienced,and analyze content and characteristic of this book,especially focus on his history thought.The third chapter will comb the version and reorganization of Xiang Yang Qi Jiu Ji briefly,and then discuss the primary coverage and writing style of this book and give a selective analysis to its nature and writing characteristic.The analysis about the important trait of Xi Zaochi's history will be presented in the fourth chapter.
