Study aim. The Müller-Lyer illusion is the distortion of human perception to straight lines with ingonging or outgoning arrowheads at ends, (or overestimating the length of a traight line with converging arrowends at ends, while underestimating those with diverging arrowheads) .Previous researches on visual evoked potentials have shown that the relative differences of bioelectrical activity of Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) reflected the significant individual differences of physiological function of vusual cortex. While other studies found the negative correlation between the MAO activation and the intensity of vusual illusion. This article tends to explore the correlations between personality traits and the Müller-Lyer illusion.Methods. The 652 participants were asked to finish the self-Müller-Lyer illusion questionnaire according to the Brentano's version of Müller-Lyer illusion, the the Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire (ZKPQ), the Zuckerman Sensation Seeking Scales (SSS), and the Plutchik-van Praag depression inventory (PVP), and fianaly statistical analyse was proceded within the 352 participants suitable for this study's commends.Results. 1. There was significant gender difference in the Müller-Lyer illusion that men tended to be less susceptible to illusion and they judge the middle of the shaft more to the no-changing end. 2. Thrill and Adventure Seeking of SSS scores were negative correlated with B33 in all subjects, which means the high Thrill and Adventure Seeking individuals were less susceptible to illusion.Conclusions. 1. Thrill and Adventure Seeking traits were correlated with susceptibility to illusion, and high Thrill and Adventure Seeking individuals were less susceptible to illusion. 2. Men were found to be less susceptible to lillusion than women.
