This paper attempts to make a comprehensive analysis of the special grammatical phenomena of interrogative sentences in Tianmen dialect for the first time. In the paper, the author not only makes a static description of kinds of sentence types of interrogative sentences in detail, but also probes into several related aspects, such as grammatical structure, semantic connotaion, and pragmatic meaning. Based on the sub-categories, with the interrogative sentences in Mandarin as its reference, the author also does a comparative study on the differences and similarities of interrogative sentences between Tianmen dialect and Mandarin, and shows the characteristics of dialects to a certain extent, with the hope of promoting thorough grammar study of Tianmen dialect.The whole paper can be divided into eight chapters:The introduction part is in the beginning of the paper, and this part mainly states the literature review, significance of the study, research method, source of the data, and case explanation of this study.The first chapter introduces the wh-questions in Tianmen dialect. It makes an investigation on the kinds of wh-questions' structures, such as that of nominal demonstrative pronoun, predicate demonstrative pronoun and non-demonstrative pronoun. All special kinds of interrogative pronouns of wh-questions in Tianmen dialect have been emphatically discussed.The second chapter introduces yes-no questions in Tianmen dialect. There are seven types of yes-no questions in this dialect: yes-no questions in using intonation, the characters of "a", "ba", "ha", "sha", "de", and "ma". This part has discussed the interrogative degrees of those question sentences. It also describes three negative forms of yes-no questions.The third chapter introduces ten structure forms of selective question sentences in Tianmen dialect, probes into the conjunctions in the sentences and the mood words at the end of sentences, and mainly analyzes the semantic feature and answers of selective question sentences.The fourth chapter concentrates on the positive-negative question sentences from three aspects, that is, repeated ones, elliptical ones, and additional onesThe fifth chapter introduces the rhetorical question sentences in Tianmen dialect. In this part, rhetorical question sentences are divided into four kinds: specially-pointed rhetorical question, yes-no rhetorical question, selective rhetorical question and positive-negative rhetorical question.The sixth chapter introduces briefly about three-type of mixed question Sentences of Tian men's dialect. They are specially-pointed ye-no question, specially-pointed positive-negative question and specially-pointed selective question.The seventh chapter makes a systematically comparative analysis of interrogative sentences between Tianmen dialect and Mandarin, showing their difference.The last chapter makes conclusions, pointing out the limitations of the paper, and showing the direction of future efforts in such field of study.This paper, starting from the language facts, at the basis of surveys in reality, makes a vertical comparison between Tianmen dialect and Mandarin with the hope of exploration on questions sentences, and providing materials for further study on grammar in Tianmen dialect.
