Jia Zhang-ke, regarded as "Lighting Bright Rays of Hope for Asian Film" by German film critic Ulrich·Gregor, he who uses his unique mirror image language to give us special audio-visual enjoyment. From his first film Xiao-shan GO Home in 1996 to the year of 2008, Mr Jia had given us nine story films, four documentaries, and had supervised five films. No matter when he was the so-called "Films Civilian Work" then or the world famous director now, he has been always made effort to capture the realest expression by virtue of focusing on the commons in such a rapidly developed times.Through these efforts, Jia Zhang-ke forms a special kind of image style——Jia's ImageStyle. Not only of this, has Mr Jia also had his own esthetic pursuit. He concerns about the disadvantaged group and marginal around, using a way of original narrating style to reflect the living conditions of common people to us.On the film Aesthetics point of view, this paper systematically neatens the composing courses, and essentially analyzes the artistic characteristics of Jia Zhang-ke's films. Specifically speaking, they are enumerated as follow:The first part: Introduction. Main introduce current academic circles to Jia Zhang-ke's films research, as well as pointing out this article research angle and main research content.The second part: The composing course and cultural context of Jia Zhang-ke's. There are three sections of this part. The first section generalizes the life experience about Jia Zhang-ke. The second section systematically neatens Jia's composing course from the year of 1996 to 2008, and makes a classification and analysis to his achievement. The last section explains the affecting tactics used in Jia's films.The third part: the cultural connotation of Jia Zhang-ke's films. The zealous attention to little towns and the interpretation on urban sacredness are both Jia's never explained complex all along. On Jia's camera, there are too many contents in little towns. Therefore, he always pays many concerns about the commons, especially the marginal people. This tendency makes his film full of milk of human kindness. In each of Jia's film, there is a core impenetrating image, such as performance theatre company, TV set and dancing hall, etc. Sometimes, Jia seems a little complex. His voluntary seeking for the sense of traditional worth and intented pursuit for leading skills seem to be a kind of antinomy. However, it is this antinomy that ceaselessly promoting Jia to achieve a higher level. In the moving process, Mr Jia never waits a single minite for summarizing the experiences and lesson he gained ultimately; he awarded the Lions Award at the Venice Film Festival.The forth part: Mirror Image Analysis of Jia Zhang-ke's films. This part has an analysis on Jia Zhang-ke's film mainly from the point of mirror image language. Jia Zhang-ke uses the camera lens language that he is quite familiar with, to show his special discovery about human, the inquiry for the living condition, and the reflection on history. The features in his films are mostly focusing on the detailed description of contemporary circumstances; meanwhile, these descriptions are used to convey his concerning about the social life. Simultaneously, in Jia Zhang-ke's films, the natural performance by the non-professional actors and the singularity of the lens management form the notable features of the scene management; the frequent using of the folk music reflects the theme and advances the plot. What's more, the dialect monologue used by the non-professional actors obviously shows a feature of regional.The fifth part: the prospect and expectation of Jia Zhang-ke's films. Along with the increasing of his age and experience, Jia Zhang-ke's artistic feeling becomes better and better. Nevertheless ,for Jia Zhang-ke is more delighted to make documentary films, if he can balance the relationship between art and commerce better in the process of pursuing artistic feeling, and also improve the connotation of images at the same time of mingling both western and native culture, he will gain even more notable achievement.The sixth part: epilogue. Pointing out the limitation of Jia Zhang-ke'films, and summarizes the main generalization of the whole content.
