Mirror plays an important part in Chinese traditional culture. The mirror’smaterial, shape and the quality of its reflected, bright, clear, empty and so on, whichmake it to be the spirit carriers while daily living equipment in people’s lives.Mirrorlearns from social life and mental culture of man as which serving them.A uniqueculture of mirror has grown up. With the vulgarization of literature, a great massfervor of absorbing from the culture of mirror in literature, especially the novel, hasbeen going on,then gradually formed a motif of mirror’s culture of rich vitality. Insome sense, the ancient Chinese classic The Story of the Stone just is such a classicalmirror motif novel.There are so many mirror images in The Story of the Stone from poetry to dailylife, from Daguan Garden to Dreamland. Although much attention has been given tothis problem in academic circles, most of which focused on the big glass mirror inYihong Park and “Feng Yue Bao Jian”,ignored the rest mirror images in the novel. Thearticle tries to make a overall study on the mirror images of The Story of the Stonefrom daily life to Dreamland to build a scientific system, on the basis of a briefintroduction over various mirrors and the custom of which usage. Mirrors,includingthe big glass mirror in people’s daily life, mainly show Jia Baoyu’s self-reflection witha tendency of self-deprecation, reveal girls’ life and emotion in Daguan Garden,giveprominence to these girls, especially Lin Daiyu’s independent sense andself-appreciation with a tendency of narcissism under the influence of Baoyu’sdistinctive gender view and aesthetic. As to the mirrors of Dreamland, mainly on thestudy of “Feng Yue Bao Jian”, dlfferents from traditional interpretation in the view ofthe emptiness philosophy, the article tries to make a new study from twoperspectives. On one hand, it attempts to fully decode the miraculousness of “FengYue Bao Jian” to trace which root. On the other hand, the author’s innovation in thephilosophical intension of the “Feng Yue Bao Jian” and that inner connectionbetween which and the main thought of The Story of the Stone from twopropositions with philosophy relations:“Illusion” and “truth”,“feeling” and “emptiness”.
