The old folk songs of the Buyi race is a traditional artistic form which the ancient people used to express their understanding to the nature and human history.In the past,from one generation to another,the songs were handed down from mouth to mouth or by writing down.Many of the old folk songs contained the ancient Buyi people's rich and miraculous imagination,showed their attitudes towards the origin of human,the form of the world,and the development of the ancient farming;denoted their effort to decide their own destiny and their strong will to conquer the nature,Their enterprising spirit and strong will still have great influence on today's Buyi people.The paper will illustrate the culture in the Buyi race's old folk songs from three aspects.First,the paper will introducte the background of the creation of the songs.The creation of the songs was based on the Buyi ancestor's struggle with the nature.In the primitive period,people desired to understand and control the nature,but the productive forces and their thinking ability were limited,so they created songs to express their desire. Second,the paper will analyze the cultural intension of the old folk songs. Third,the paper will discuss the songs' aesthetic meaning and their value for modern society.Nowadays,the appreciation of the colorful national culture and primitive natural scenery has become the most attractive tourism sector.As a symbol of national culture,the charming old folk song's value for modern society lies in its function to promote the development of the Buyi race culture tourism.
